Children and Youth Initiative

Strategic Grantmaking

Launched in 2008, the LCF Children and Youth Initiative has invested $730,000 and served over 34,000 children, youth and their families.  In 2011, LCF will invest an additional $270,000 for a total commitment of $1,000,000 in just four years.

The goal of the Initiative is to improve health, well-being, and educational outcomes for Latino children and youth.  We seek to do this by focusing on three areas: Early Learning, Parent Engagement, and Teen Pregnancy Prevention.

Early Learning grants fund education programming and shared learning opportunities for children 0-5 and their parents to support health and well-being.

Parent Engagement grants provide parents with the skills and resources to fully understand, participate, and support their children’s developmental needs and build an early learning environment.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention grants promote awareness on healthy sexual and relationship behaviors and increase teen access to health care to make more informed decisions about sex and prevent unplanned pregnancies.
