The Latino Community Foundation inspires philanthropy, invests in Latino communities, and leads transformative solutions for change. LCF fulfills its mission by:
- Inspiring a culture of philanthropy for and by Latinos.
- Investing in Latino-based nonprofit organizations.
- Building and mobilizing a statewide network of donors and advocates to transform Latino communities.
LCF sees the Latino community as one with tremendous assets, resiliency, and an unyielding hope for a better future. Latinos are committed to their families, their communities, and to building a better future for the state of California. Here at LCF we believe in the generosity of our donors and the leadership of our community to lead positive and sustainable solutions for change.
LCF was created because there is a severe underinvestment in Latino-led and Latino-based organizations in California. According to Hispanics in Philanthropy, Latino nonprofits receive less than 1.3% of all philanthropic dollars. LCF is unyielding in its commitment to change this inequity in funding. Because of this commitment, LCF has grown to be the premier Latino fund in California. Since 2008, we invested more than $3M in 55 + Latino-based community partners that have educated and empowered more than 100,000 children, youth, and their parents.
Today, LCF is at a pivotal stage in its growth; expanding board leadership, growing the Latina Giving Circle, a highly engaged donor model and building the California Latino Agenda, an advocacy platform with incredible potential to improve the lives of Latino families across the State. LCF recognizes that investments are one tool in the change-makers toolbox, and that strategic partnerships, coordinated advocacy and responsive leadership are critical for success. To date, we have sparked multiple campaigns that bring leaders, ideas, and funding collaborations together to empower our community. We will continue to share knowledge, to inspire participation, and to support our collective agenda to improve the lives of Latino families.
LCF is poised to build a national model for engaged Latino philanthropy and to be the voice for a community whose time has come. Today, LCF is seizing the opportunity to build a lasting institution that serves as a champion, funder, and advocate for the Latino community of California. We have learned from experience that when we come together to invest in Latino families and community leaders, amazing things happen – children do better in school, parents are engaged, and communities thrive. Join us! Be the change you want to see in the community.
