Investing in the Growing Latino Community
Connecting Community with Opportunity
The Latino Community Foundation seeks to increase financial investment in small to mid-size community-based organizations that provide direct services and advocacy to Latino families in need. We achieve this through innovative grantmaking that fosters leadership and connects philanthropic giving among Latinos, the general public, foundations and corporations.
LCF makes investments to improve the educational, health and economic well-being of Latino communities. Our promise is that increased investments to Latino-based nonprofit organizations will transform the lives of children and their families, the community and ultimately the future of California. LCF’s vision is to create a future where all Latino families are safe, healthy and full participants in the civic and economic life of California.
LCF develops effective, innovative grantmaking and capacity building strategies that attract Latino donors who have emerged as influential members of the philantrophic community. As a funder, we connect our community partners with donors in order to increase investment in Latino-serving organizations and strengthen the impact they have on Latino communities.
In doing so, LCF addresses a consistent theme which has risen - community-based organizations are experiencing a growing demand for services, while simultaneously receiving less funding. Budget short falls at the local, county, state and federal levels have forced cuts to many critical social services. California's own budget crisis has resulted in mandatory cuts among all programs with additional cuts anticipated in the years to come. For non-profits serving at-risk or minority populations the results will be challenging.
