Thanks to the efforts of Latino organizations providing civic engagement and voter outreach programs to Latino youth, a historic number of young Latinos showed up to the polls in the 2018 midterms. In places like the Central Valley Latino youth voter turnout went up 258% from 2014 and overall Latino voter turnout increased by 18% in 2018.
In 2020, Latino Nonprofits will be at the forefront of mobilizing and engaging the 15 million Latinos currently living in California, the largest racial/ethnic community in the state.
It will be Latino nonprofits that ensure all Latinos are counted in the 2020 Census, and it will be those same organizations that guarantee all 7.9 million eligible Latino voters in California show up in record numbers to vote in California’s Primary Election and again during the general presidential election.
Because of their vital importance to ensure that Latinos, and especially young Latinos, are engaged and ready to participate in 2020 – here is a small list of 20 Latino-led nonprofits that are leading the way! For a more complete list of Latino nonprofits to support this year, please check out our Latino Power Map!
