GALA: CELEBRATING PHILANTHROPY CON SABOR LATINO
The LCF Annual Gala brings together over 600 corporate, political and community leaders to celebrate the contributions of Latinos in California. This year we honored Latina leadership and the power of our youth! We were thrilled to celebrate Nuestro Orgullo Awardee Maria Elena Salinas, Peabody and Emmy award winning journalist and former Univision anchor, for her integrity in journalism, bold leadership in shaping a new narrative, and her lifetime commitment to elevating the diverse voices of Latinos. The 2018 awardees also included Edna Chavez, Youth Trailblazer Awardee, youth activist of Community Coalition who captured the world’s attention at the March for our Lives Rally on Washington D.C. Susana de Anda, Leading Change Awardee, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of Community Water Center committed to empowering Latino families and shaping public policies for a more prosperous Central Valley. The Honorable Arabella Martinez, Latina Legacy Awardee, first Latina to be appointed to a sub-cabinet level position and leader of a historic revitalization of the Fruitvale neighborhood. SACRAMENTO LATINO POLICY SUMMIT
The LCF Sacramento Summit has become one of the most sought after events in Sacramento and has brought more than 1,000 Latino leaders and 250 Latino nonprofit organizations to our state’s capitol, many for the first time. In 2016, Summit keynotes came from two powerful Latino leaders in California’s legislature, Senate Pro Tempore Kevin de Leon and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. Following the 2016 Summit, LCF organized 55 Legislative Visits for more than 200 Latino Policy Summit attendees and speakers – taking the Summit’s conversation and turning them into action. COMMUNITY CONVERSACIONES SERIES
The Latino Community Foundation’s Community Conversacion speaker series brings community leaders together to address pressing issues impacting Latino families and to highlight solutions for change. Our audiences include a wide range of grassroots nonprofits, corporations, local government agencies, and national and statewide policy groups.
