LGCN Program Associate

Emely Hernandez Johnson is our passionate and community-driven Program Associate of the Latino Giving Circle Network who brings an intentional heart for service and connection to her work at LCF. With over six years of experience in the nonprofit sector, she has focused on volunteer engagement, community outreach, research, and partnerships—all aimed at building more just and connected communities.
Originally from Orange County, California, Emely began her education at community college before transferring to Dominican University in Chicago, where she earned her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Latinx/Latin American Studies.
Before joining LCF, she supported volunteer and alumni engagement at One Million Degrees and led outreach connecting low-income families with critical resources including housing support, food security, and employment services. She also served as a research consultant with the University of Chicago, co-authoring publications that uplift the needs of youth experiencing homelessness.
Outside of work, Emely enjoys trying new coffee shops, supporting small businesses, and spending time with her husband and their corgi mix. She is honored to be part of a foundation that centers love, community, and collective power to uplift Latinos across California and beyond.
