The Latino Community Foundation (LCF) is thrilled by Justice Patricia Guerrero’s appointment to the California Supreme Court, the first Latina ever to be appointed to the state’s highest courts. We celebrate this historic moment for the State of California and our Latino community.
We commend Governor Newsom’s commitment to diversity, and his recognition that Latinas bring a valuable perspective that must be present in our state’s highest court, one that continues to serve as a bellwether for the entire nation.
Latinas have been instrumental to the economic, cultural, and political fabric of California. Now more than ever, Justice Guerrero’s voice will be critical in shaping a more just future for our families as we recover and rebuild from a pandemic that has disproportionately impacted Latinos.
LCF partnered with community leaders from across the state to advocate for this moment, because we understood that the wisdom, discernment, cultural insight, compassion, and humility of Latinas is essential in our courts.
Today, we join our communities to celebrate and pray for Justice Guerrero as she works ensure that justice and righteousness prevail in our courts.
