Dear Familia,
My LCF love story began in 2011, when I joined the Latino Community Foundation (LCF) as the first Graduate Fellow. I fell in love with the vision of building a Foundation that belonged to the people. I poured all my energy into making our dreams a reality.
It has been the privilege of a lifetime to be in community with you all. Now I will begin to write a new chapter in my journey. On December 1st, I will be stepping down from my role as LCF’s Senior Vice President of Programs and Branding to pursue my dreams and passions. I will launch my own consulting firm dedicated to photography, nonprofit coaching, and continuing a philanthropic revolution. I am excited that I will continue to partner with LCF in this new role and support the Latino Nonprofit Accelerator as a coach.
For the last decade, I grounded our programmatic and philanthropic strategy with love—the greatest force in the universe. If you’ve ever experienced that love, then I know that my time here was a great success.
From our legendary Galas to our first Latina Giving Circle meetings in San Francisco, we created a culture of joy and generosity. We didn’t give up when faced with adversity, wildfires, or the COVID-19 pandemic. We went all in and all out!
I am proud to have been part of building a strong foundation for LCF. We are confident that the next generation of leaders will take the vision to new heights. This organization is a movement, and movement requires change to grow.
My invitation for you in this moment of transition is to show up! Join a Latino Giving Circle, become a mentor for our Latino Nonprofit Accelerator, and amplify our advocacy work! Whatever you do—do it with your whole heart. The community deserves nothing less.
Being part of this movement has also transformed me. I am proud of my grit calluses, laughter wrinkles, and the many lessons learned. While at LCF, I also became a mother and wife, an entrepreneur, and forever remained the proud daughter of immigrants.
While my chapter as Senior Vice President at LCF comes to an end in December, my love story with the Latino community continues. Please stay in touch at mashavchernyak@gmail.com.
Thank you for a lifetime of unforgettable memories!
All my love!
Masha
