In a crucial year for Latino families, the Latino Community Foundation (LCF) is expanding our programs and deepening our partnerships with grassroots leaders who are at the forefront of community-driven solutions.
In addition to expanding our grantmaking to Nevada and Arizona, we continue to prioritize underserved regions. Our latest initiative, Activate Imperial, is a public-private partnership with the Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom that seeks to increase the capacity of grassroots organizations in the Imperial Valley.
This summer, the team had the honor of being in community with Imperial Valley Equity & Justice Coalition and Comite Civico del Valle, two anchors of the community in Imperial County. Together with local leaders, we listened to the dreams of our partners and strategized how philanthropy and government can further meet the needs of this region.
From a memorable meeting with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to our PoderFest convening in June, our Latino Giving Circle Network® (LGCN) is reaching new heights! This movement is ready to deepen its commitment and investments in grassroots leaders across California, and for the first time, expanding outside of the Golden State to Arizona and Nevada.
We are grateful for the leadership, passion, and partnership of our LGCN members. They are LCF’s greatest ambassadors and essential to unleashing the civic and economic power of Latinos. If you are ready to invest in our future, this is the time to join our movement!
The team was thrilled to announce the appointment of Sylvia Pérez Cash as LCF’s first Chief Innovation Officer (CIO). She brings an impressive track record of strong leadership in finance, operations, and governance to this phenomenal team. Sylvia is the leader our team needs to help drive our expansion in the years to come. I look forward to each of you getting to know the newest member of our familia in the coming months!
Our growth is driven by the urgency of this moment. The team’s site visits and time spent in the community have made it clear what is at stake for our communities in the coming months. Know that LCF will continue to seek out innovative ways to build power while remaining true to our values.
As fall approaches, the LCF team is thrilled to celebrate our upcoming Latino Giving Circle Grants Night Season next month and our annual El Poder Latino event in Sacramento on October 9. We look forward to seeing you this fall!
