John Garcia, Board Member

John Garcia is an avid champion and advocate of health policies—especially those that impact vulnerable populations. For the past 20 years, he has worked for Kaiser Permanente. In his current role as Vice President for Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, he oversees government relations activities for California. There, he represents the interests of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, The Permanente Medical Group, and Southern California Permanente Medical Group.

Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Garcia was a field representative for United States Congressman Pete Stark. Prior to that, he was the Community Educator for the City of Hayward.

Garcia is active in his community and serves on the boards of directors and advisory boards of various other organizations, including Children Now, California Center for Civic Participation, and the John Burton Foundation for Children Without Homes.

Garcia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University at Hayward.
