LOS ANGELES CA – February 14, 2024 – TelevisaUnivision’s award-winning news division NOTICIAS UNIVISION presents PATH TO THE SENATE, a California Senate Candidate Forum, on Saturday, February 17 starting at 6 p.m. PT. Every candidate meeting the threshold of 5% in statewide polling and running to represent the state of California this election cycle was invited to participate in the televised and streaming held at Univision Los Angeles studios.

Confirmed participants include Rep. Adam Schiff, Congresswoman Katie Porter, and Congresswoman Barbara Lee. Candidate Steve Garvey declined the invitation to participate.

During the forum, each candidate will be interviewed for approximately 20 to 25 minutes by Noticias 34 journalists Gabriela Teissier and Oswaldo Borraez. Additionally, each candidate will have a 30-second closing statement. Simultaneous translations will be provided for the live stream and subtitling for broadcast coverage. Each candidate will also have a professional translator assigned to them.
The NOTICIAS UNIVISION’s California Senate Candidate Forum, PATH TO THE SENATE, will STREAM LIVE on Saturday, February 17 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 pm. PT on the following platforms:
- ViX’s California NOTICIAS 24/7 streaming channels
- UNIVISION’s California digital platforms
- UNIVISION’s California social media platforms and YouTube channels
On Monday, February 19 a one-hour broadcast of the forum will air from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. PT on all the UNIVISION owned-and-operated television stations in California. The broadcast will consist of edited footage from the forum specifically tailored for television. The stations that will air the broadcast include the cities of Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Fresno, Sacramento, San Francisco, and San Jose.
The candidates for the California Senate Candidate Forum were invited because they met the threshold of 5% in statewide polling and were registered to appear on the ballot. They have consistently polled above 5% in the following polls: UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies (1/12/24), Emerson College (11-14, 2023 and 1/11-14, 2023), and Latino Community Foundation (November 2023).
