MARTIN ENCINAS LEON: SF MEN LATINO GIVING CIRCLE
Martin has been a member of the SF Men Latino Giving Circle for a year and is now an active leader of the movement. A top recruiter for different circles, he was pivotal in organizing the Latino Youth Leadership Conference hosted by the men’s circles and frequently volunteers with their grantee Dev/Mission. Professionally, Martin is a Real Estate Investment and Luxury Specialist with Coldwell Banker Global in San Francisco. Gracias Martin for all you do!
How would your best friend describe you in five words.
Hungry. Driven. Funny. Go-Getter. Honest.
If you had a family slogan, (a family dicho) what would it be?
My mom always says “Tu eres el arquitecto de tu propio destino.”
WATTS/CENTURY LATINO ORGANIZATION (WCLO)
Our Los Angeles Giving Circle’s priority is to invest in the civic leadership of youth and parents. WCLO does exactly that. Located in Watts, a historically African American community, the area is now 70% Latino. WCLO is the only Latino-based nonprofit in South Los Angeles focused on building effective leadership that reflects the current demographics of the community. They train residents to become advocates for themselves, their children, and their community. This investment came at a critical time, as founder Arturo Ybarra mentioned “[the grant] was fundamental to continue operations.”

SIGN ON TO OPPOSE THE CITIZENSHIP QUESTION ON 2020 CENSUS
Several members of our Latino Giving Circle Network joined forces to sign a public comment letter to remove the citizenship question from the 2020 Census. And they are not the only ones! Opposition to adding the citizenship question is across the board, including more than 160 Republican and Democratic mayors, six former Census directors, and 19 attorneys general. Please make your voice heard! Sign on to the LCF letter requesting the citizenship question is removed. Deadline to sign on is August 7th.
