We are proud to announce the appointment of The Honorable Arabella Martinez as Interim CEO of the Latino Community Foundation. Ms. Martinez is uniquely qualified to lead the Foundation during this exciting time of continued growth. Ms. Martinez has had a distinguished career as a public servant, community leader, and has received numerous awards in recognition of her many accomplishments.
Outgoing LCF CEO, Raquel Donoso, has resigned to pursue other interests. During her 7 year tenure as CEO, the Foundation grew to become one the leading Latino funds in the United States. During this time, LCF has invested $3 million in more than 50 Latino-based organizations, expanded Latino philanthropy through Latina Giving Circles, and united hundreds of organizations through the LCF advocacy platform, the California Latino Agenda. We wish Raquel the very best in all of her future endeavors.
The LCF Board of Directors is embarking on a search for a permanent CEO. In the meantime, Arabella Martinez, an LCF Trustee of 9 years, assumes the leadership role. As Founder and CEO of The Unity Council, Arabella Martinez developed the award winning $100 million Fruitvale Transit Village in Oakland. She was also one of the highest ranking Latinas in the Carter Administration, serving as Assistant Secretary for the Office of Human Development Services at the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
The Latino Community Foundation is honored to be a supporting organization of The San Francisco Foundation. The LCF team includes Sara Velten, Director of Development, Masha V. Chernyak, Director of Programs and Policy, and Laura Olivas, Operations and Grants Manager. Join us as we continue to lead solutions for change, inspire philanthropy and invest in Latino communities.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. If you have any further questions regarding this announcement, please contact Laura Olivas at lolivas@sff.org.
With Gratitude,
Arabella Martinez and the LCF Board of Trustees
