Our hearts have been so heavy with the scale of loss and suffering caused by the wildfires in Northern California.
As of this morning, firefighters are still battling 20 fires in multiple counties. Our deepest prayers are with the families who have lost a loved one, their homes, and have been displaced by the fires. The devastation is unprecedented. This is the time for us to do what we can to help those in greatest need.
At the Latino Community Foundation, we have launched a fund to support three local Latino nonprofit organizations —North Bay Organizing Project, in Santa Rosa; La Luz Center, in Sonoma; and UpValley Family Centers in Calistoga— that are working with Latino families, farmworker communities, and are coordinating regional resources for immediate and long-term needs. These nonprofits are our longstanding partners and trusted community advocates.
When you invest in this fund, you are directly benefiting local Latino families. The same families that farm the land and contribute to the economic vitality of the Wine Country region.
Last but not least, we thank all the courageous first responders, firefighters, and community leaders who are working around the clock to bring safety and security to our neighbors. In these times of crisis, we open our hearts and share our blessings. Please consider making a donation to our Northern California Wildfires Relief Fund.
With love,
The Latino Community Foundation Family
