Assistant Professor of Sociology at Hendrix University, Michael Miyawaki, is seeking mixed heritage Latinos in the San Francisco Bay Area whose one parent is Latino and the other parent is non-Latino white, black, or Asian for a research study on racial identity.
His research will explore the mixed heritage experience of the offspring of Latino intermarriage. As a mixed heritage Latino (Nicaraguan/Japanese) himself, he is interested in learning how people of partial Latino ancestry racially identify and think about aspects associated with their mixed heritage background.
This project will provide you with an opportunity to share your experience as a mixed heritage person in a confidential and safe environment. By sharing your story, you are helping to expand research on the offspring of Latino intermarriage, a population that is fast growing and making their presence felt nationwide and particularly in California.
Who you are: Mixed heritage Latinos whose one parent is Latino and the other parent is non-Latino white, black, or Asian.
**Must be at least 18 years old, born and raised in the United States, and currently residing in the SF Bay Area
Time Required: One hour per interview at a location that is convenient for you
Compensation: $20 gift certificate to Target for your participation.
